Yesterday was World Usability Day 2006.
Here is a conference - a global gathering if you will - of people concerned with the way that design on-goingly shapes our world and the actions that are both possible and not possible within them.

When we see pictures like this, it is easy to see how the design of longer matches anticipates the breakdown of burned fingers, and enables us to cope skillfully. A nice illustration of what I was talking about in the previous post.
